Mount Ararat
(Armenian = Masis, Turkish = Agri Dâgi, Persian = Koh-i-nuh)
Located in Turkey, but pictured below on stamps of Armenia,
Ararat has probably erupted within the last 10,000 years but there is no
historical evidence for such an eruption.
The mountain has two peaks, Great Ararat (16,946 feet) and
Little Ararat (12,840 feet).
According to biblical accounts, the mountain was the resting
place of the Ark following the ebb of the deluge.
The upper four stamps are from the 1921 first set of the Armenian
Socialist Republic.

The next three stamps are from the only issue (1920) of the
Armenian Republic.

The next stamp was issued in 1922 showing Ararat and Soviet
star.
