The Auckland Volcano field sits in the middle of one of the largest cities in New Zealand.

Fortunately, the most recent eruption has been dated at about 1350 AD by radiocarbon techniques.

Rangitoto is one of the cones in the Auckland field, thought to have erupted around 1350.
