Chaine des Puys.
The volcanoes of the Chaines des Puys were instrumental in
the early history of volcanology.
Their recognition as such provided data for both the Neptunist
and Plutonist philosophies.
None have been historically active but the youngest have been
dated to between 4,000 and 8,000 BC by radiocarbon methods.
