Campi Flegrei Volcano
A 13-km-wide caldera on the outskirts of Naples, Italy.
It has many phreatic tuff rings and pyroclastic cones.
The pillars of Pozzuoli were used by Charles Lyell as an illustration
of the rise and fall of sea level.
There have been two historic eruptions, one in 1158 at Solfatara
and the other in 1538 that formed the Monte Nuovo cinder cone.
The following stamp issued in 2006 illustrates some ruins
at Pozzuoli.
