One of only four volcanoes with a historically recorded eruption
of VEI magnitude 7.
An eruption which removed the summit of the former Mt. Mazama
approximately in 4895 BC.
A subsequent eruption at about 4750 BC built Wizard Island
within the summit crater.
The Lake is the deepest in North America at 1,932 feet.
