The Drakensbergs are the highest mountain range in South Africa.
The area has Pre-Cambrian lavas erupted during continental
break-up.
Later 200 million year old lavas were erupted during the break-up
of Gondwanaland.
In places the amygdaloidal basalts are over 1,400m thick.
