Eyjafjoll to the west of Katla.

It has a 2.5km wide summit caldera.

It is recorded as having erupted in the 15th century and in 1821-1823.

This eruption was andesitic to rhyolitic in composition.

At Postin are cliffs of ankaramite.

The most common rock in this area is hyaloclastite.

The following stamp with the volcano in the distance was issued in 2009.

To the consternation of European airlines, it erupted in 2010.
