Fiji Islands Archipelago, western Pacific.

Though the islands are volcanic only one of them, Taveuni, has been dated as historically active,

even then the eruption is only dated at some time between 1450 and 1650.

However, the island is believed to have witnessed about 58 eruptions since about 950BC.

The island of Koro is possibly either Pleistocene or Recent in age.

A stamp like that shown below was issued in 1938 with a 13x12 perf and no 180º mark.

It was reissued in 1940 with perf 13½ and 180º marking.

And yet again in 1947 with a 12 perf.

Likewise the 2d was issued with multiple watermarks

and with and without the 180 degree marking.

It was overprinted on February 10th, 1941.
