Mount Gambier is a complex of maars in South Australia,

approximately 250 miles due west of Melbourne and

an equal distance southeast of Adelaide.

Formed about 5,000 years ago, they are the youngest

volcanic features on the mainland on the continent.

The postcard below shows The Blue Lake which has a deepest

point of 672 feet.
