Kao, is a perfect volcanic lava cone, with a deep crater rising 1046 meters,

making it the Tonga's highest elevation.

Nearby , Tofua is a caldera 8 km across with its rim 558 meters height.

The volcano produces smoke and gases,

with steam caused by lake water meeting the magma.

Two villages are located at the base of this volcano.

Tofua last erupted in 1958 with a VEI magnitude of 2.

The stamp below was originally issued in 1897.
