Karymsky is located in southeast Kamchatka within a 5 km caldera.
It is the most active volcano of the eastern zone.
The first historic eruption was in 1771.
It has since erupted 29 times.
Most of its lavas have been produced within the last 200 years.
Typically eruptions have a VEI of 2, though from 1970-82 they
were 3's.
A possible pyroclastic flow was recorded in June 2000.
The next stamp was issued 20th June 2002.
