La Grille shield volcano at the northern end of Grand Comore
Island (also known as Ngazidja)
It lacks a summit caldera.
The basaltic volcano has an abundance of pyroclastic cones
up to 800 m in height.
The cones were erupted along fissures paralleling the summit
ridge.
I am assuming that Le Lac Salé in the stamp below,
occupies one of these cones or is a maar.
No historic eruptions have been recorded for the volcano
