Piton de Neiges Volcano, Reunion Island.

Inactive for 20,000 years, the volcano is heavily eroded into three

amphitheatres called cirques.

One of these, called Salazie contains the peak shown on the following stamps,

Piton d'Anchain.

The first two stamps below are from the 1933-40 issue.

The next stamp was issued in 1943.

The next stamp issued in 1943 celebrates the liberation of France.

The next two stamps are labeled simply "mountain scene".
