Sakurajima, Kyushu, Japan.
One of the most active volcanoes in the world.
Designated a "Decade Volcano".
Most eruptions are strombolian with a VEI of two or less.
Occasionally, as in 1471AD it gets more violent (VEI 5).
A radiocarbon date of 7750BC has been obtained.

The stamp illustrated below was issued April 30th, 1962 to
celebrate Kinkowan Quasi-National Park.
The next stamp was issued July 19th, 1988 to celebrate
International Conference on Volcanoes at Kagoshima.
