Tambora, Indonesia
Tambora is on Sumbawa Island along the east Sunda Arc.
Its 1815 eruption was the largest in historic time.
Leading to the "year without a summer" in the United
States.
Killing, some estimate, close to 100,000 people as a direct
result of the eruption clouds, the following tsunamis and consequent crop
failures.
The following stamp was issued in 2003.
