Cook Island is the southernmost of the South Sandwich islands.
At 20 km² in area the island measures 6 km by 4 km and
is approximately rectangular in shape.
It is composed of basaltic/dacitic lavas.
It was discovered by Cook's expedition (1775) and named for
him by Bellinghausen (1819).
The following stamp was issued in 1980.
