Forming a large part of the northwestern Hawaiian island of Kauai.

As the stamp below portrays, it is one of the continuously wettest places on Earth.

The net result is a heavily eroded topography.

Long extinct, though Macdonald's map indicates eruptions into the Pleistocene.
