Wudalianchi, Heilongjiang Province, China

 

Site of what is the most recent volcanic activity in China.

Giving rise to the Laoheishan and Huoshaoshan cones.

These cones produced the Shilong lava flow which resulted in the name of the site.

In translation, "five connected lakes".

In all, there are 14 cones at the site and evidence for five episodes of eruption.

The most recent being from 1719 to 1721.

The lava is a leucite basanite with a variety of pahoehoe surface features.

The following stamps were issued in 2007.
