The volcano Yasur on Tanna Island

Tanna used to be part of the British-French Condominium of the New Hebrides.

The name of the Condominium was changed to Vanuatu in 1980.

The volcano has been active since first recorded by Captain Cook in 1774.

Most of the activity is of hawaiian style.

Stamps immediately below were issued in 1980,

the left showing the entire archipelago, the right, Tanna Island.

Stamp on left below was issued in 1993, that on right in 1986
